Some places let you pause time— laughter lingers like perfume, and every moment is golden. The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City was just that: a sanctuary of soft elegance, a perfect base for our girls trip to see the magnolias. afternoon tea stretched into deep conversations as sunset painted the city in Gold and Red as we headed for dinner and drinks.

From our window, the monuments stood sentinel and just beyond, the magnolias whispered in pink. We loved that its a short 25 min Metro ride (10 min uber if no traffic) to the Smithsonian to see the magnolias and soon to bloom Cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin. The service was perfectly personalized - staff greeted you by name in the Club and remembered your tea & hors d’oeuvre preference - bringing everything without me even asking - every detail felt like a quiet indulgence. But the real luxury? The kind of friendship that transform “just another blossom peeping trip” into a treasured memory.

Between day and night, winter and summer there lies sunset in spring.

Life happened after capturing these and I was delayed in sharing - but much like these fragile crocus pushing through to the warmth of spring through the frozen ground. I will reemerge to find my sunshine too.

Two hours from the city, and suddenly, the river is your clock. Mornings begin with the hush of sunrise over the Hudson, amber skies fade into the water as evening unfurls. In between, a wine barrel sauna awaits or maybe a meditation class. At Hudson Brickyards, time lingers, the air is thick with stillness, and the world feels just far enough away.

Every eight minutes, the Star Ferry glides across Victoria Harbour, not just between shores, but through time itself. In a city that reinvents itself daily, this quiet constant remains—a tether to history, to memory. My father once rode the star ferry, a young man with a briefcase in hand and ambition in his heart, crossing these same waters to his first job at the ‘big bank.’

As I ride the same ferry, I taste the same salt air— hear the echo of his footsteps in the hum of a city that never truly stands still. Share with some one you’d want to ride the ferry with!

Wherever you find yourself, a reminder that there is always a chance to fall in love with the people, the culture, the food and maybe even yourself again.

With love from the trams of Hong Kong 💛 the “ding ding” as its lovingly known by the locals has been in operation on Hong Kong Island since 1904 and it feels like you’re riding a piece of history every time you board - it’s one of my favorite ways to take in the street views in the urban jungle of HK island. Made all the more special by knowing that this is how my grandad and dad got around too when they worked here.

Maybe the smallest of pleasures isn’t really an assessment of how much it has to offer us. Perhaps it’s a reflection of how many good things the world unfairly neglects. Dare we savour the modest pleasures of a brilliant sunrise or thoughtful chocolate on the pillow with HK milk tea offered to us on our adventures?

Selfie in the mirrored ceiling from my room on FL 113 - the tallest hotel in Hong kong and one the highest 5* hotels in the world. Located in the International Commerce Center with unparalleled views of the the sunrise and sunset over Victoria harbor.

Have been taking a little time for self reflection in recent weeks and look forward to sharing more in the coming days/weeks from the rest of my adventures in Hong Kong!
